2008 US Open Torrey Pines
We arrived in San Diego this morning after a very hot, humid and windy week in Memphis last week. KJ didn't play Memphis. He arrived at Torrey Pines on Saturday and has already had a couple of practice rounds. I walked the front 9 holes with KJ this afternoon as Apples practiced his chipping and putting. Stuart finished 2nd in Greens in Regulation last week, so his ball striking is right where he wants it coming into this week. He just needs to shrpen his short game and I think he will have a great week. I think the course setup from what I saw today is the fairest US Open setup I have ever seen. The rough is layered, so the first two cuts just off the fairway give the golfer a chance to get the ball to the green. The last few years if you just missed a missed a fairway, it was hack it out sideways with a wedge. The greens will be firm and quick, but I don't think outragiously so like the past few Opens. I think with good weather, which is forecast we will see a few under par win this year.
